On October 7th 2017 the Niagara Frontier Chapter U.S.D. of 1812 held a dedication ceremony at Hillside Cemetery in East Pembroke, NY to mark the grave site of 1812 veteran Hiram S. Simpson. Niagara Frontier Chapter president, Elfreda Stangland presided over the ceremony . She was joined by Christine Holley, who is a direct descendant of Hiram S. Simpson. Four other direct descendants of Hiram were also in attendance.
.Descendants of Morris May gathered at Kirkland Cemetery in Sorento, Illinois, to honor May who served in Captain Willis Hargrave's Company of Mounted Volunteers as part of the Illinois Militia during the War of 1812. Morris May was born July 22, 1791 in Georgia and died in 1854. His wife, Martha (Patsy) is buried next to him. Shown with the descendants are members of the Headquarters Rangers.
